It’s been raining here in Jakarta and mostly pouring heavily on weekends. This is obviously not something new to do, but today I was at the park for a commercial shooting and I was kinda bored on set. So I picked up dead leaves around my tent and arranged them nicely to complete the A to Z set. These are few personal pieces from the last 35mm developed. The shoots were taken at Imogiri, a close area in Yogyakarta, Central Java. I had a chance to involve in adzan shooting with Kompas TV as to supervise my client’s assignment. It was nice to just get away from the city and be in remote area for few days. At least the escapados and the breeze are priceless.

These picture above are taken at Karet Bivak and Dukuh Atas area using 35mm on my FM10. Some kids out of this world are hanging out at the graveyard or certain spot which is not usual to be a place to play at. I couldn’t say that they are unlucky enough to experience that, because as matter of fact, they seem happy. And probably happiness isn’t about where you playing at, but deeper than that. It is about fitting yourself at any ground, at any spot, with a big heart to accept the reality.

“The Underdog” (2008)

I have been tracking back some of the works I’ve done before and I think this piece is still be my favorite. It actually made in a set of 3 (three) and all addressed to show how witty an underdog camera could be. Holga 120CFN has always been my favorite toy camera to do some experiment with.

This is one of the poster shown at the graduation exhibition back in the college time years ago. I was into copywriting back then, and I guess I kinda like the line I wrote for this, whereby Holga - ‘The Underdog’ of medium format world.

One thing I like to wander around in Singapore is (obviously) its sterile and concrete buildings all over the country. Everything seems too fine, too neat, too stiff to take, but yet it still the best place for me to get away sometimes.

These are trees taken from 3 (three) different spots in Bangkok. I read once that trees invite us to absorb their essence entirely, and we do this by tapping into their infinite branches of energies.

As a symbol, tree symbolizes a way of classifying, identifying and organizing the array of energetic knowledge they contain and incorporating this array in our daily life. Interesting thing, it is being said that trees are vessels, containing strata of different wisdoms.
