“Garuda” (2010)

On my last trip to Bangkok, I went to Wat Pho, a temple which is known also as Temple of Reclining Budha. Apart from the giant Budha itself, I took a little closer to see Garuda, which are placed around the temple.

Garuda ‘the devourer’ is the mythical ‘Lord of birds’ in both the Hindu and Buddhist traditions. In the Hindu Puranic legends, Garuda is the son of Kashyapa and Vinata. He is said to have emerged, fully grown, from an egg, after incubating for five hundred years.

It is said that Garuda has always been the sworn enemy of snakes and nagas. The archetypal legend of the enmity that exists between birds of prey and serpents occurs across a wide spectrum of transcultural mythologies.

“Sesaji” (2011)

Religion as it is practiced in Bali is a composite belief system that embraces not only theology, philosophy, and mythology, but ancestor worship, animism and magic. It pervades nearly every aspect of traditional life.

I guess this ‘sesaji’ which is aligned at ever corner remarks the land itself as an island of Gods. This is one of shoots taken in Kuta earlier this year.

“Reading Azmyl” (2011)

Just some random observation toward his facial expression toward each song that he played at the latest gig I attended. I’ve noticed Makan Gaji always thrown out more energy than other song on the set list.

“Veins” (2011)

Rabindranath Tagore once said, “The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.” Quite nice line that I picked up this morning.

These are two of recent shots made for Azmyl at his crib. He had just launched his new album called Warga few months back. It’s been awhile since my last photograph set of him back in 2006.

“Market Mayhem” (2010)

I made a short tour to TTDI Market this morning. Been capturing scenes from the market, and I think this is one of prominent market I’ve ever been into in KL. I might need to go to some other markets next time.

“Trainsition” (2010)

A compilation of shoots for KTM Berhad. I found it’s fascinating to spend a little time to capture details in Kuala Lumpur central station - such as its underground tunnel and transition panel in between platforms.
