“Garuda” (2010)

On my last trip to Bangkok, I went to Wat Pho, a temple which is known also as Temple of Reclining Budha. Apart from the giant Budha itself, I took a little closer to see Garuda, which are placed around the temple.

Garuda ‘the devourer’ is the mythical ‘Lord of birds’ in both the Hindu and Buddhist traditions. In the Hindu Puranic legends, Garuda is the son of Kashyapa and Vinata. He is said to have emerged, fully grown, from an egg, after incubating for five hundred years.

It is said that Garuda has always been the sworn enemy of snakes and nagas. The archetypal legend of the enmity that exists between birds of prey and serpents occurs across a wide spectrum of transcultural mythologies.

“Sesaji” (2011)

Religion as it is practiced in Bali is a composite belief system that embraces not only theology, philosophy, and mythology, but ancestor worship, animism and magic. It pervades nearly every aspect of traditional life.

I guess this ‘sesaji’ which is aligned at ever corner remarks the land itself as an island of Gods. This is one of shoots taken in Kuta earlier this year.

“Reading Orchestra” (2011)

In reading, a lonely quiet concert is given to our minds, all our mental faculties will be present in this symphonic exaltation. (Stéphane Mallarmé)

“The Old Face” (2005)

These are some pictures of Pudu Raya area back in 2005. Taken with 35mm B/W for photography assignment back then. Pudu Raya is the main bus station in Kuala Lumpur. It’s situated near Chinatown (or Petaling Street) which is one of attraction for those who come and visit the city.

As for me and my friends, Pudu Raya was one of finest spot to take picture last time. Maybe because of the building, people, traffic and whatnots that shaped this area.

“Mabuhay” (2009)

If I have to recall all trips I’ve done this year, I’d pick my trip to Philippines as the best so far. It wasn’t a well-planned out trip, but it turned out unexpectedly fun. Here some pictures taken with the classic FM10 when I was in Baguio.
